The Budgies have written a song using the boyfriend’s review about them for (part of) the lyrics. It doesn’t make me any happier Tali White never liked the things I wrote about his music that much, for which I think I have secretly been hoping, but never mind that: ‘Think small’ a very good song. It is good in a Tidy Ups, Second-hand furniture, teenage Talulah Gosh sort of way — and a hymn for (indie) pop on top of that.
We want to get to meet you
we want to be your friends
take pictures to remember the good times we spent
A friend of ours once put it in a song
he said “pop love will save the world!”
and we know he’s not wrong
I might feel all grown up these days, but I can’t help but grin at how much this rings true — especially when I look back at the last year or so.
How great is (all) that?

haha, that is absolutely fantastic!! really cool. and it suits martijn that he didn’t write about it on his own blog :)
Hello and welcome!
In fact Martijn is a show off, but don’t tell anyone – he’s quite good at pretending. That said though, yeah, it is amazing, and it gets better because the rest of the ep is pretty lovely too, the Budgies will get indie(pop)-famous soon, everyone will know about Martijn and I will be married to somebody famous…
Or perhaps just because it’s so sweet.
there you go! you were right! haha.. can’t blame him though :)
thanks for the welcome, it’s fun reading about such a happy couple.. makes it a tiny bit easier to be far away from my gf too, hehe..
Next time I catch myself counting to one hundred before I reply to Martijn I’ll remember we’re “such a happy couple”, perhaps it will help! Seriously though, it’s hard, not all indiepop songs and in-jokes, but I like it…
